Not only in the social media or in political and social discourse we see more and more hate comments, but also students, teachers or administrators at universities are affected more often by a disparaging tone or receive aggressive feedback. Ingrid Brodnig provides insight into the causes and how to deal with such reactions. The event is aimed at interested parties from all disciplines and higher education institutions.

Ingrid Brodnig is an author, journalist and blogger with a focus on the social impact of digitization. Since 2016 she has been writing books and articles on political manipulation on the internet, including "Hass im Netz. What we can do against hate, bullying and lies" (2016), "Übermacht im Netz: Why we have to fight for a just internet" (2019); both in German. She also writes a weekly IT column called #brodnig for the Austrian news magazine Profil and was named Austria's Digital Champion in the EU Commission in 2017, an independent position to promote digital awareness. She regularly holds lectures and workshops on topics related to digitization. (www.brodnig.org)
