The "IntSpire" 2020 prize goes to the Institute of General Mechanics, represented by Professor Bernd Markert.

IntSpire is a first-time prize awarded for special services to internationalization at RWTH. RWTH would like to make visible and honor individuals and institutions that have made an extraordinary contribution to the internationalization of RWTH Aachen University in their everyday professional or private life.

From 31 very good nominations, the jury unanimously chose the Institute of General Mechanics because of its welcoming and cooperative environment and working in a diverse team. Fundamental mechanics courses are offered to international undergraduate students to eliminate the language barrier for a successful education. There is also a student exchange with Mexico for undergraduate students. Professor Markert emphasizes that not only travel educates, but also welcoming and integrating foreign students is enriching.

Nominations for the IntSpire 2021 selection round can be submitted to the International Office starting September 1, 2021.
