Online workshop "Communication training against hate speech - Focus on teachers"
Within its event series "University in Transition - Perspectives on Gender and Diversity", IGaD is setting an additional focus in 2021: Anti-Discrimination in Focus.
Hate speech is an aspect of discrimination and can be heard or seen not only on the internet or social media, but increasingly also in everyday university life. IGaD had therefore organized a theme evening "Hate Speech in Everyday University Life - On Dealing with Aggressive Reactions" with Ingrid Brodnig on October 8, 2020.
Following up on the discussion of the participants at that time, a communication training against hate speech will now take place on May 6, 2021, which is specifically aimed at teachers and professors. On June 24, this communication training will be held for the target group of students; this will be announced separately.
Workshop content
The consulting firm Gailus.org - Process and Expert Consulting for Workplace Health Management and Company Culture will discuss short impulses and case studies with the participants after a short introduction to the topic. Then, in small groups, concrete ways of acting and reacting to derogatory or aggressive comments will be practiced, whether as an affected person or a bystanding person.
Date: May 6, 2021, 14.30 to 16.00 hrs
Registration: via e-mail / maximum 20 participants
Place: online via Zoom, the link will be sent shortly before the event
