"United in Diversity" - University Alliance ENHANCE publishes first annual report on Diversity and Gender Equality.
ENHANCE, the alliance of seven European Universities of Technology, presents an annual report with status quo and goals for equal opportunities, diversity and gender equality.
The report shows the status quo of the seven universities in the areas of gender & diversity. Universities have a special responsibility to make academic education and career paths, including exchanges and mobility in Europe, accessible to all.
"Educational opportunities and exchanges within the European University should be equally accessible to all, regardless of gender, personal or economic background, special needs or family circumstances." emphasizes Melih Özkardes (RWTH), Diversity and Gender Equality Ombudsman of ENHANCE.
Also involved in writing the report from RWTH were Equality Opportunities Officer Dr. phil. Ulrike Brands-Proharam Gonzalez and Katrin Feldmann, executive director of the Taskforce Inclusion from the Integration Team (IGaD).
Diversity and gender equality at all levels of university members are crucial for excellent education and innovative research. The annual report provides an opportunity to make improvements and successes visible. The first report from 2021 shows the already diverse range of strategies, measures, structures and offerings implemented at the participating universities in the area of gender and diversity. The alliance can thus be ideally used as an exchange platform for expertise and for joint continuing education in the field. In addition, the cross-cutting issues of gender and diversity are to be taken into account in all activities of the ENHANCE Alliance.
