IGaD and Female Network Melaten Lunch-Reading: Motherhood and Science
Dr. Lena Eckert and Dr. Sarah Czerney will read from the book they edited "Motherhood and Science. The (In)compatibility of Motherhood and Scientific Activity".
The book brings together voices of female scientists from different scientific disciplines, who deal with the topic of "having or not (wanting) having children" in very personal texts.
Following the reading, there will be an opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion.
Dr. Sarah Czerney is a research associate at the Office for Equal Opportunities of the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology in Magdeburg (gender equality project FEM Power) and a fellow of the Frankfurt Memory Studies Platform at Goethe University Frankfurt/Main.
Dr. Lena Eckert works as a research assistant in the gender*bildet project at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. She also works as a writing consultant and coach for gender and diversity in teaching.
The event is aimed at female students, PhD students, postdocs, professors, women in technology and administration at RWTH Aachen University.
The event takes place in cooperation with the Female Network Melaten and is planned as an initial event for the foundation of a RWTH network for young female scientists with children (as well as interested people without children). Within this network, the exchange on the topics "Research - Family - Compatibility" is planned, for example at lunch meetings in presence or online.
