The recent crisis is also focused on Gender Equality and Diversity; parents need to find a way to balance work and child care responsibilities and it is getting obvious that women are bearing the main load. Further promoting Gender Equality and Diversity is therefore of high concern.

People often ask me what diversity means and what it stands for. I usually answer something like this: Diversity means cultivating openness, solidarity and a respectful and appreciative way of interacting with each other, putting the competence and professionalism of the other person in the foreground, appreciating differences, and counteracting discrimination. Admittedly, when my child asks me that while we are kneading, I'd rather say: it's okay that you are the way you are and that the others are the way they are. The main thing is that we work together well and productively.

To me, Diversity means to fulfil the demands of all different kinds of persons; to understand that there is the need - beyond all distinctions - to design programs and services that cater to everybody. Because we as individuals at times are not or do not stay objective, digital services are the best way to ensure Diversity: carrying out and marking exams digitally, offering assistance for students digitally, etc.
