The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, HKUST for short, was founded in 1991 and is thus one of the younger universities in Hong Kong. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2011 to 2012 placed HKUST at number 62 in the world. The Asian University Rankings 2011 selected HKUST at the best university in Asia. The university is an international research university and consisters of four faculties: natural sciences, mechanical engineering, business and economics, and humanities and social sciences. English is the language of instruction.
